How does laser hair removal work?
Specific wavelengths of laser light are selectively absorbed by melanin, the dark pigment which surrounds the hair follicle. The laser heats the follicle and disables the follicle at the root causing the hair to fall out permanently. Elysion uses the optimal wavelength to deliver high energy ensuring best results.
Is it painful?
Elysion laser uses an integrated patented crystal freeze technology to keep the skin surface at a constant 5 degrees thereby protecting the skin and ensuring a very comfortable treatment. Elysion also has a dynamic mode for truly painless treatment.
How many treatments are required?
All lasers can only treat hair in the growing stage, or visible on the surface of the skin. At one point this represents approximately 30% of all hairs in the skin. The other hairs are dormant. There are three phases of hair growth and we need to treat all three phases for maximum clearance.
Due to its ability to deliver high energy specifically to the hair follicle, the results from Elysion are superior and can achieve maximum results in approximately 6 sessions. Other lower power lasers or IPLs can take 8 to 12 sessions.
Is it Permanent?
Not all laser or IPL systems offer permanent hair removal that but Elysion, due to its high power and effective cooling technology can remove her permanently. The hair treated with Elysion will not grow back. However any future hormonal changes may result into new growth and require additional treatment in the future.
What is the difference between laser and IPL?

One question we get asked regularly during a consultation is: What is the difference between laser and IPL?
Laser Hair Removal
A diode laser uses a single wavelength (810nm) of light that has a high eruption rate in the melanin. As the melanin heats up it destroys the root and blood supply in the hair follicle disabling the growth permanently. High-quality laser systems like the Elysion Pro incorporate the cooling system to protect the skin and make a pain free experience for the client. Diode lasers deliver high frequency, low fluence pulses that can safely be used on all skin types.
IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) Hair Removal
IPL (intense pulsed light) is technically not a laser treatment. It uses a broad spectrum of light with many wavelengths meaning it leads to unfocused energy around the hair and skin. As a result, there is a lot of wasted energy meaning the hair follicle is not targeted as well as with a diode laser making it less effective as destroying the hair follicle. Using a broad spectrum of light in this way also increases the risk of pigmentation and burns particularly if there isn’t an effective cooling system in place. IPL systems are also typically only safely used on lighter skins (Fitzpatrick 1-3)
IPL will require more regular and long term treatments for hair reduction.
A Elysion Pro diode laser will work more effectively and disable the hair follicle permanently with less discomfort whilst safely treating an all skin types from (Fitzpatrick 1-6)
